Turn 1A
I am not very confident going into this game. My opponent and I have played the Fiona vs Zaateroth matchup before. In my opinion Fiona is down in that matchup and now he is playing Agathon which makes the matchup even worse.
Infernals get the first turn and I chose the side with the walls because: Hellmouth. Regna summons a Shrieker and Agathon summons a Soul Stalker.

Turn 1B
I run up, but unfortuately am a bit rusty on how to play around Hellmouth. Therefore the Vigilants end up too scattered and I am not able to group stuff up in the right way. The biggest issue is of course the leftmost Vigilant.
Fiona stays super far back.

Turn 2A
Opponent double Hellmouths and kills Alexia2 and the red Thamarite, basically ending the game then and there. Agathon summons a Desolator and clumps around the edges of the zones.

Turn 2B
I Befuddle heavies out of the rightmost zone and put acosta on the flag. Three Vigilants charge the Desolator, but dice are horrible. Fiona is feating, but staying a bit too far back since I am so afraid of assasination. This means that I can’t comfortably charge the blue Morrowan into the Foreboder. Ironically, it is the Foreboders who are putting pressure on Fiona, but my opponent has one in spare behind the rock.
Zira runs upto contest the flag (engaging the Tormentor).
Score 2-0

Turn 3A
Not the best picture unfortunately. The Shrieker single-handedly clears out the Vigilants (that model is seriously OP!), and a Desolator runs up to contest my flag. Zira is killed and he scores a point.
Score 2-1

Turn 3B
I try to go for a play where I hope to clear the right zone again with soulfire and the Gallant. I shouldn’t have gone for it because it was a bit long odds and in the end the Tormentor survives. If I score the point I am still far away from winning on scenario this turn, so it would be better to try and conserve my army. On the other hand, if I kill the Tormentor he has much less hitting power to strike back. Maybe if I could have gambled and thrown out a curse on the Tormentor, but order of activation meant that I had to activate Fiona before I had killed the Foreboders. Agathon hadn’t feated yet, so I am really worried about the assassination.
Toro and the Yellow morrowan fail to kill the Soul stalker, but I am able to kill both the Foreboders and the Desolator who was contesting.
Score 3-1

Turn 4A
Agathon feats and kills my whole army. Since I am losing the game already I take the opportunity to teach my opponent the good old Witch Coven trick where you make impact hits on a unit with Curse of Shadows. He enjoyed the trick and scored my flag with Valin Hawke. He also scored the right zone, his flag and killed the objective.
Score 3-5

Turn 4B
I clear the Soul Stalker and befuddle the Hermit out of the zone. My Hermit contests the flag, but I can’t contest the right zone
Score 4-6

Turn 5A
Tormentor throws the Hermit away from the flag. I do a cheeky counter charge on a contesting Cultist to get the Toro within contesting range of the flag.
Score 4-8

Turn 5B
My Hermit contests the flag again and I clear the left zone. Maybe I could have found a way to score his flag if Fiona had started running forward a bit earlier, but it would just have delayed the loss. We score one point each
Score 5-9
Turn 6A
He contests the zone and throws my Hermit again for two points
Score 5-11
Sadly, a loss for the Mercenaries
::Evaluation::
A bad matchup for me and my positioning turn 1 just ends the game straight away. It has been a while since I played vs. Hellmouth so I give him way too much. That being said even if I position correctly there is nothing stopping him from just sniping out two of my power solos directly. I am also probably a bit too afraid of his assassination potential, but then again if my opponent had felt under pressure at any time I guess he would just have feated and gone for the kill.
